Kyushu National Museum – About 10 minutes walk from Dazaifu Tenmangu
The Kyushu National Museum is a museum of sophisticated contemporary art and history. It is the fourth national museum after Tokyo, Nara and Kyoto. The exterior of the building, which draws a curved line, is impressive, and when you enter the building, the light will come in through the glass and the open entrance will fascinate you.
The theme of the museum is “capturing the formation of Japanese culture from the perspective of Asian history”, and exhibits that are unique to the land where exchange with asian countries has been active for a long time.
From 14:00 every Sunday, there is also a “Backyard Tour,” a free tour that allows you to peek behind the scenes of the museum, which you can’t usually enter.

The season of fresh green and autumn leaves is especially recommended for visiting there.
The Karasansui garden, which is named “Bukkou garden” (front garden) where stones are arranged in the shape of “光”, and “Itteki Kaite garden” (rear garden), which represents the ocean with white sand, is worth seeing.
During the time when sunlight shines through the trees, the colors are reflected on the temple floor. It is a spot where you can relax and enjoy Japanese Wabi Sabi from a busy approach.

Starbucks Coffee Dazaifu Tenmangu Store has a fashionable appearance that will make you stop. Kengo Kuma, a Japanese famous architect, is in charge of the design.
The concept is “fusion of tradition and modernity with natural materials”. The entrance has a traditional design using a half-timbered structure, and many tourists take a commemorative photo in front of there.
A plum tree, a symbol of Dazaifu Tenmangu, is planted in the back of the store.
